The founder of Agmachine, Trevor Cree, is a consultant agricultural engineer who during a 35 year career has worked in over 30 countries worldwide for the FAO, World Bank, EU and other institutions.

In 1990 he was working in China as the Chief Technical Adviser on a three year FAO agricultural mechanization project. The crops covered by the project encompassed wheat, maize, rice, cotton and groundnuts. The project had identified 42 items of agricultural machinery valued at US$ 0.8 million which were required for in-depth field evaluation. However, the existing printed directories, exhibition catalogues and company brochures proved inadequate for clearly identifying the most appropriate technical solutions. Many top class manufacturers and their products were invisible to their potential customers.

Access to comprehensive information was therefore clearly identified as a major constraint for farmers, dealerships and manufacturers worldwide. The rapid development of the internet in the mid-1990s provided the ideal vehicle to provide global access to information.

In August 1997 the structured Worldwide Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Directory was therefore launched and has now been in existence for 23 years.

We hope that it will be useful for farmers, dealerships and manufacturers alike.
