Worldwide Agricultural Machinery & Equipment Directory

History

In 1990 the founder of agmachine.com Ltd, Trevor Cree, was working in China as the Chief Technical Adviser on a three year FAO agricultural mechanization project. The crops covered by the project encompassed wheat, maize, rice, cotton and groundnuts. The project had identified 42 items of agricultural machinery valued at US$ 0.8 million which were required for in-depth field evaluation. The existing printed directories, event catalogues and company brochures proved inadequate for clearly identifying who made what and where in the world. Many top class manufacturers remained invisible to their potential customers, as indeed they do today. Access to comprehensive information was therefore identified as a major constraint for farmers, dealerships and manufacturers worldwide.

The rapid development of the internet in the mid-1990s provided the ideal vehicle to provide global access to information. In August 1997 the structured Worldwide Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Directory (WAMED) was launched. The strength of the directory was its 42 main categories and 263 sub-categories of machinery which greatly assisted farmers and dealers to locate the manufacturers of the equipment that they required.

The agmachine.com Global Hub is the natural development of the WAMED Directory. It consists of a Global Hub and 19 Country Websites (USA, Germany, UK, China, India etc). The overall objective is to create the leading internet source for all matters relating to the US$70 billion agricultural machinery and farm equipment industry which takes into account national, regional and global requirements. Whatever information you want it is our aim to provide it.
