Escorts Limited is the flagship Company of the Escorts Group - a

equipment for the core sectors of agriculture, transportation,
construction and telecommunications and has achieved market

In the agricultural sector, having commenced its manufacturing
operations in 1964, Escorts has emerged as a leading manufacturer of
agricultural tractors and combine harvesters. With a field population
of over 0.6 million tractors and a current production of over 50,000
tractors per annum, ESCORTS are among the largest selling tractors in
India where every fourth tractor is from ESCORTS.
The Product range being offered to its global distribution comprises
of three different brands and eleven models covering the economy,
value and premium market segments in the 27 - 75 HP range. All the
tractors models are currently being manufactured in 2 wheel drive
versions and the development of the Mechanical Front Wheel Assist
versions is at an advanced stage and are expected to be made
available by mid 2001.
The strategic business goal of Escorts is to become the world's
largest tractor manufacturer in the sub 100 HP category with presence
in all significant markets. As part of this globalization drive,
Escorts has already established distribution network in a number of
countries including having set-up assembly-cum-distribution Joint
Ventures in United States and Poland. A formal West European launch
is expected to be made by end of Year 2001 after the availability of
the MFWD versions and discussions are at an advanced stage for
establishing a Joint Venture Company for marketing of these tractors
in Europe. All the Overseas investments are being channelled though
its wholly owned subsidiary viz. Escorts Agri. Machinery Inc. which
has been incorporated in USA.
To support its globalisation drive, Escorts has established one of
the finest manufacturing and design infrastructure among all tractor
manufacturers of the world through comprehensive Business Process
Re-engineering of its facilities. While its current products already
meet the US and European Tier I Emmission norms, Escorts is currently
developing a new state-of-the-art range of Engines to comply with the
Tier III Emmission norms. Concurrently, all its existing products are
being upgraded to meet the customer expectations of its principal
overseas markets. Escorts is also an ISO 9001 accredited company
having established quality systems to deliver continuous improvements
and expediously meet the customer expectations.
